Sustainable Wedding Alliance Founder Shortlisted for the 2023 Great British Entrepreneur Awards

Jun 12, 2023

Sustainable Wedding Alliance based in West Berkshire is excited to announce that their Founder, Michelle Miles, has been shortlisted for the prestigious 2023 Great British Entrepreneur Awards in the Sustainability Entrepreneur of the Year category. This recognition reflects their exceptional entrepreneurial spirit, dedication, and remarkable achievements within their industry.

Now in its 11th year, and previously described as “The Grammys for Entrepreneurship”, The Great British Entrepreneur Awards celebrate the outstanding individuals and businesses that drive innovation, generate employment opportunities, and contribute to the growth of the UK economy. These awards serve as a platform to honor the remarkable stories of entrepreneurs who have overcome challenges, demonstrated resilience, and make significant contributions to their communities.

“Being shortlisted as a finalist is extremely humbling. I launched the SWA in December 2020 to help businesses in the wedding industry build sustainable businesses and put long term sustainable strategies in place. We’ve done a lot in our first three years. We’ve helped over 50 businesses on their sustainable journey so far and launched the Sustainable Wedding Awards to recognise and rewards the fantastic achievements happening in the industry. My proudest achievement was developing an industry wide accreditation standard. ” said Founder, Michelle Miles, at Sustainable Wedding Alliance.

The Great British Entrepreneur Awards have become one of the most coveted accolades for entrepreneurs across the UK, celebrating the nation’s diverse entrepreneurial landscape. The awards ceremony will take place on November 20th 2023 at London’s Grosvenor House, where industry leaders, innovators, and influencers will gather to celebrate the achievements of the finalists.

Founder of The Great British Entrepreneur Awards Francesca James says “Every year I am blown away with the quantity and quality of applications we receive, and this year is no exception. The Great British Entrepreneur Awards receives thousands of applications annually and the competition is tough. I am truly inspired by the remarkable accomplishments of this year’s finalists. Their collective achievements of generating over £2.7 billion in turnover and employing over 33,000 people demonstrate the exceptional impact they have made in their industries and communities. These entrepreneurs exemplify the spirit of innovation, resilience, and growth that drives the entrepreneurial landscape in the UK.”

The Sustainability Entrepreneur of the Year category recognises that tackling the climate crisis now stretching far beyond turning off taps when brushing our teeth or turning off our plug switches, eco-consciousness is dramatically changing the way we think and behave as consumers and this is just as true for couples planning their wedding.

The Sustainable Wedding Alliance has excelled in highlighting the important of sustainability in the industry, both to businesses and couples. Their commitment to sustainability has allowed them to make a significant impact in the wedding industry and set new benchmarks for success.

“We’re proud to have reached this stage and are so grateful for the support received from our members, partners, couples and the wedding community. The recognition of our hard work by the Great British Entrepreneur Awards further motivates us to inspire others in the entrepreneurial ecosystem” said Miles.
