Since April 2023, the Sustainable Wedding Alliance has been at the forefront of driving sustainable change within the wedding sector. A cornerstone of our mission has been the delivery of Carbon Literacy Training for Wedding Professionals, a programme designed to demystify climate change and empower wedding professionals to take meaningful action.

Our training is meticulously crafted to bridge the knowledge gap, providing a clear and accessible understanding of climate change and its impact on the wedding industry. We recognise that for some, this might be their first foray into sustainability, while others may be seeking to deepen their existing understanding. Regardless of their starting point, our course offers a structured and supportive learning environment.
The training goes beyond theoretical concepts, focusing on practical and achievable steps that businesses can implement to reduce their carbon footprint. We cover everything from sourcing sustainable materials and minimising waste to reducing energy consumption and promoting eco-friendly transportation.
Carbon Literacy is relevant climate education for everyone, and equates to a day’s worth of learning and action on climate change. It is defined as, “An awareness of the carbon dioxide costs and impacts of everyday activities, and the ability and motivation to reduce emissions, on an individual, community and organisational basis.”
The course has been accredited by the Carbon Literacy Project, and CEO & Founder Michelle Miles, is a Carbon Literacy Facilitator. In addition to Michelle, we’d pleased to say that our Ambassador, Claudia Fox, will also be delivering courses in 2025 across London and the South East.
