Your marketing strategy gives you your year round action plan to engage with your clients and suppliers, and if you don't have one, or it doesn't align with your business then it's not serving you.

➡️ Break it down. What do you do? Why do you do it? Who do you do it for? The answers to these questions should help you to form your purpose.

💚 Define your values. Think of your values as your company DNA. They should reflect your business beliefs, principles and shape your decisions.

🗣 Don't be afraid to share your values. Transparency is the key to building trust with clients, suppliers and attracting the right team. If they know who you are and what you stand for it can help them understand why the should work with you.

As a sustainable focussed business, environmental and social considerations should be at the forefront of your business, and you should be proud to include these within your purpose and values.

Once you know who you are and where you're going it will help you to develop a strategic marketing plan.

We've been talking to members about their sustainable marketing plans, ensuring they are compliant with the Green Claims Code and how they can get the competitive edge when talking to their ideal clients. Are you ready to start your sustainable journey?

SUPPLY CHAIN // It's one of the largest elements o SUPPLY CHAIN // It's one of the largest elements of a business’s carbon footprint, and one of the most complex and time intensive. Building a sustainable supply chain starts with auditing your current supply chain.

You first need to start by understanding who you are currently buying from and, depending on what you're buying, who they are buying from. Your supply chain is just that, a chain of companies that supply to each other, ending with you. You need to be able to understand where a product originated and how, where and who manufactured it.

That might sound quite daunting, but it doesn't need to be, we've broken it down into 3 simple steps:

📝 Create a list of all your suppliers
📇 Contact your suppliers and ask them for their sustainability policy, and, in particular how they ensure the products they source (to supply to you) are from a sustainable source
☑️ Start to build a yes, no and maybe list from the supplier replies. Yes to those that share your sustainability goals, can trace products and provide details. No to those that aren't working sustainably or aren't willing to share traceability. Maybe to those that you have a good relationship with, and are working towards being more sustainable.

❔When was the last time you reviewed your supply chain?

This month with members, we have been focusing on building a sustainable supply chain, reviewing who they buy from, how they buy it and where it come from, as well as providing templates, checklists and training.

SUPPORTER // Tackling food waste is a key part of SUPPORTER // Tackling food waste is a key part of driving sustainable change in the wedding industry. We need to minimise wastage at every stage of the process, from growing to prep to plate. We're proud to be a @guardiansofgrub Support Partner to help businesses to understand what they can do in the kitchen (and out) to reduce waste, be more efficient and influence behaviour change.

Net Zero is the hot topic of the moment, and rightly so. 1.1 million tonnes of food wasted equals 3.7 million tonnes of CO2e 😨 By reducing the food waste coming out of our kitchens, we directly help to protect our planet from climate change.

Together we can amplify the conversation about food waste and continue to protect people, profit and planet. Ready to tackle food waste? Sign up to Become a Guardian today!
