The Minories is Colchester’s Oldest Art Gallery, established in 1956 in a Georgian Townhouse on Colchester High Street. The gallery, cafe and gardens (including a beautiful gothic-style folly from the 1700s) are open to the public Thursdays to Sundays 10am – 4pm and are free to enter. The gallery holds a growing collection of 350 works of significant East Anglian art, dating from 1803 to the present day, as well as the ‘Black Lives Matter Colchester’ archive. The gallery’s public programme supports local people to develop and flourish within the arts and creative industries via residencies, exhibitions, and events opportunities.
