Set In The Rolling Hills Of Devon, the historic 17th century Threshing Barn looks out towards sacred groves of woodland and lies in the heart of 25 acres of glorious grounds and enchanting gardens. South facing, the site gets the first and last of the sun and has breath-taking views across an ancient valley which steps down to a bend in River Yeo. Yes, it is dreamy and the antithesis of ‘the conveyor belt venue’!
Come to Hayne for a wedding which can extend to feel like a mini festival or simply to immerse yourself with the peaceful, natural surroundings – thick Devon hedgerows for birds and wildlife, we grow wildflower meadows for pollinating and offer in-house floristry service. Within the walled garden and grounds we have planting schemes to attract birds, bees and butterflies. We have planted 5000 native trees to create woodland.
The Jacobean barns have been lovingly restored using the traditional cob, lime, oak and eco-paints under guidance from English Heritage. We run a biomass wood chip boiler which provides all underfloor heating and hot water. Solar panels help to run our own spring water supplied from the borehole, water treatment plant and electric vehicles charging to service the site.
We encourage travel to Hayne via train to the nearby station in the village close by. From here the train is 20 minutes to Exeter St Davids with national connections. We promote local sustainable suppliers and we use our delicious pressed Hayne apple juice behind the bar for cocktails!
