The Wellbeing Farm is a passionate family business offering a fun, unique and sustainable service with high attention to detail, quality food and great facilities. Based in Lancashire it is the first venue to have received B Corp certification in the UK.

Wedding couples have exclusive access to the farm and grounds for their wedding day, which includes all facilities including two barns, two bars, two ceremony areas… and Llamas wearing bow ties!

As the name implies, wellbeing is at the heart of their delivery and they really understand what goes on behind the scenes of wedding planning. A couple’s journey starts with an experienced team – who’ve been recognised for their work – so much so that they won the ‘Wedding Events Team of the Year’ at the National Wedding Industry Awards.

They will provide couples with contacts of likeminded, talented suppliers and have a Facebook group for couples planning their wedding at the venue where they post ideas for decor, supplier info and guides to help a couple have a sustainable wedding. The venue even offers a discount to couples that choose their Green Wedding Package.

What is in their Green Wedding Package?

By consulting with one of the leading experts on the circular economy, Catherine Weetman, the Farm has worked to adopt a circular economic means of operation for a couples wedding. A circular economy attempts to prolong the life of a particular material by assigning it a new function. Therefore, instead of throwing material away, it is reinvented and manufactured into a new product.

The Green Wedding Package has successfully implemented this thinking through such creations as their one-of-a-kind and radically inventive ‘Prop Shed’. The Prop Shed holds decorations and features from previous weddings and events and these are repurposed and reinvented into something new and personal.

The Green Wedding Package also has some inventive ideas on how guests can take a little piece of sustainability home with them. For example, the beer and wine bottles from a wedding can be redesigned as a flower vase or rose holder, or flower seeds can be given so guests can plant a reminder of the day in their homes and watch them blossom.

You can read more about the Green Wedding Package here but everything in this package from the food everyone eats, to the wedding suppliers and the decorations, has a low environmental impact, and that’s just the way the Wellbeing Farm likes it!

New Packages for 2023

The Wellbeing Farm has listened to their customers feedback and in these tough times have come up with three new packages for 2023 that they are excited to share.

  • Let’s Marry and Party Package – for those people that want to marry elsewhere and are just after the party!
  • Late Ceremony & Big Party Package – for those people that want to marry later in the day and then just go straight into the party!
  • Budget Friendly Wedding Package – for this people that want to get married at the farm but are after something to fit their budget!

Certified B Corporation

The B Corporation® certification is arguably the creme de la creme of eco-credentials. It addresses the entirety of a business’s operations and covers five key impact areas of Governance, Workers, Community, Environment and Customers. What the certification means is that you can spot the brands that have an incredible ethos and are continually striving to do things better – for its team, the planet and the people within it.

The certification process is rigorous, with applicants required to reach a benchmark score of over 80 while providing evidence of socially and environmentally responsible practices relating to energy supplies, waste and water use, worker compensation, diversity and corporate transparency.

Gaining a B Corp® certification is not a one-time thing either, the Wellbeing Farm have to re-certify and improve their score every three years. They are also held legally accountable to consider the impact their decisions have on their workers, customers, suppliers, community, and the environment.

Since its launch in 2006, more than 150,000 businesses have signed up for the B Corp Impact Assessment, yet only 4,500 have been certified which is a testament to its extremely high standards.

There are currently over 670 B Corps in the UK and 4,600 worldwide. The Wellbeing Farm is one of the first events venues and wedding venues to become a B Corp certified business in the world.

Celia Gaze, Founder and Managing Director of The Wellbeing Farm says…

“B Corporation® certification is one of the toughest business accreditations to be granted and for a small independent farm-based hospitality venue to achieve this is amazing. I think we are the first events and wedding venue in the UK! It has been a crazy journey which started with us installing a wind turbine to power the farm. We are proud to have been recognised for our commitment and values and delighted to be part of the global movement of people using business as a force for good. We hope we now pave the way for many more hospitality businesses to get involved in this important business movement”.
